God was just getting ready to do some amazing things for Abram. Told Abram that many nations would be blessed through him, that he would have a son, that his descendants would be living in the very place that he is standing! Check it out Genesis 17!!
God’s Covenant!
Covenant: a serious agreement or promise between two or more parties (roughly defined by Merriam-Webster). More than a resolution which is a promise we try to keep each year. Resolutions are promises we keep to ourselves for ourselves.
Covenant is a promise we make to each other. A promise between God and Abram (now, Abraham, with God’s promise) which we are benefactors of by grace through Christ. In return, Abraham was faithful to God (with a few bumps along the way) and made a covenant with God and sealed the covenant. Again, read Genesis 17!
What covenant can you and God make? What is He “promising” you? In return, what are agreeing to offer back to God?
Don’t just make resolutions . . . make a covenant!
