I didn’t choose November. November chose me! I was born in November 51 years ago. So, November is kind of a special month!! I usually have a great November.
November is a great month because it really is the heart of the fall season. Fall colors are at their peak. The weather gives great opportunities to be outside enjoying the warmth of the day and knowing that you may need to drink something warm when you come back in because the chill in the air.
November is always Election Month. This year’s election was a doozy!! For the past year and a half, we have heard the banter back and forth between opponents. These electoral combatants spewed a message of fear and frustration. We, the commoners, spewed along with them. Not a day went by that social media was filled with supporters for each side. #Imwithher or #Imwithhim, we claimed.
And now it’s done! Social media is once again filling the page with those who want to have a voice to say, “Yeah for us!!” or “Boo! We’re all doomed!”. So, I have been sitting here trying to find the words to say and reflecting on us. More on this in a bit!
November is also Thanksgiving month!! Now most anyone who knows me, knows that I usually start listening to Christmas music and begin my Christmas season a bit prematurely, even before the radio stations do. But even through my music and my heart, I choose to be thankful throughout November! I am grateful for a family that love me endlessly! I am blessed to minister with a church family! I am honored to serve with faithful leaders who have been called to service to this church!! I will be filled several times this month with a bountiful feast used to remind us to be thankful!
Now some will take the month to share something they are thankful for each day! Awesome!! I love seeing those!! Others will take a day or two in the month and share with family and friends what they are thankful for! Great!! Many of us will attend a time of thanksgiving worship. Woohoo!!
Back to November elections – be thankful! You were able to vote yesterday and have been given a right to make a choice. Be thankful!! Depending on which side you represented, you have been given the chance to have a voice. Be thankful!! You have a breath of life today. Be thankful!! With your breath, God gives you a choice to share a message of thanksgiving. Be thankful!!
Everyday we are reminded of God is doing!
“This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)
So it’s November! Choose November! Be thankful!!
Be blessed and be a blessing!
