seventy-one

I was a freshman at Michigan Christian College (Rochester College) in the fall of 1983. I had received a scholarship in music and joined the A cappella Chorus. The director was Randy Gill. Randy is an extremely talented musician and vocal director.

Every day we practiced, preparing for concerts and tours. Each day, we would take some time to share faith together. At the beginning of the week, Randy would read from God Is No Fool (Lois Cheney). We would discuss each topic presented and my faith grew.

At the Plymouth Church, we’re finishing our Missions Month. I would like to share a reading from Cheney’s book as a reminder and challenge of living Christ in our lives daily.

Once, I prayed,

Who am I?

If only I knew who I was.

If only I knew what I could do

If only I knew why I was.

If only I knew what to do.

And I prayed more earnestly,

Who am I?

If only I knew, faith would come.

If only I knew, strength would spread.

If only I knew, I could

work and serve and grow.

And I demanded in prayer

Who am I?

And he smiled,

And said,

“It is enough that I know,

Follow me.”

And I did.

Be blessed and be a blessing!!
