Israel has blown it! At least according to Paul in Romans 10, Israel had their chance to receive salvation through the promised Messiah.
Maybe at some point in your life, you said, “Oh I blew it!” It could have been with a job or school while growing up. What about our own faith story? Are there times when we have basically said, “Oh I blew it!” What about times as a parent with our kids? I know there were times when our girls were growing up that I have said, “Oh I blew that! Didn’t I?”
Paul says that Israel blew it because they had the opportunity to hear the message of the Messiah and reject him. But he says, they can receive the opportunity to receive the message again. In Romans 10:14-17, he says their remedy is re-hearing the story of Christ. Normally, this text is used to prove why we need to tell the story of Jesus. It’s also a reason why some churches believe that they pay ministers.
What about using this text to share the message of the Messiah in our homes? We challenge our children with being stronger students in school. We encourage them in extracurricular events and activities.
Do our kids know the story of the Messiah because we have share the story with them? Taking it further, do our kids know how the story of the Messiah in working in our lives? For, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:14) Paul quotes Isaiah, ““How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:16)
So share your story with your kids! Let them know how the Messiah has worked in your life and you will be called “beautiful”!
Be blessed and be a blessing!
