Books and reading

It’s not that I don’t like to read! It’s not that I don’t want to read! It’s just that reading has a tendency to bore me. And I get easily distracted when reading – thinking there are other activities I’d rather be doing.

Several years ago, I challenged myself to read more. More specifically, I have tried to read through as many as 5 books this summer. No, I didn’t make it completely. In fact, the books shown are what I have read through, started and not completed, and there may be one or two that I haven’t started yet, but plan to do so very soon.

“Why do you torture yourself this way?” you may ask. Good question! I think it’s because I want to be as prepared to teach and to share. In my mind, I have to read to grow.

I’m not much of a plant person either. But I do know that in order to plants to grow there has to be water and good soil. So, I look at reading as creating the good soil and water needed for my mind to grow.

We have just a few months left in this year. Find time and space to read if you don’t already. Set a challenge before yourself to grow! I think I have about 5 books to finish and 3 to start before this year ends. Let’s grow together!

Be blessed and be a blessing!
