I just looked it up! Toy Story was released in 1995! Yep . . . for almost 25 years, we have enjoyed watching the interactions between Woody and Buzz and the rest of the toys in Andy’s room. And we can’t forget the words Buzz utters right before he is about to “fly”, “To infinity and beyond!”

As the new year of 2019 has now come, many this time of year look back to the last year. We look at what we accomplished and what we didn’t. We measure year 2018 based on what was good and bad. This time last year, we were just finding out that my wife and I would be grandparents in 2018.

Many also take this time to set goals, make resolutions, and plot out plans for this coming year. I’ve even seen where some have gone to Facebook to see what the social media world is projecting for their life.

And I think about Buzz’s words, “To infinity and beyond!” As we begin to plan and mindset and work towards this year, I’m wondering if we somehow miss out on Buzz’s mantra. Well actually, it is Paul’s prayer to the church in Ephesus.

“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:14-21)

Our thinking on our own is too small! When we begin to grasp and live in all of God’s goodness from inside of us and spreading outward, we will begin to experience life “to infinity and beyond” because God can do immeasurably more than we could ever think or say!!
