Happy Father’s Day

Fathers are unique!! Some of you are already saying, “Yeah! You’re probably talking about my dad!” Dad’s have their way of doing things in life.

DAD JOKES!!

Here are a few that came across my Facebook post:

  • Did you know tennis is in the Bible? Joseph served in Pharoah’s court (Mark)
  • What do you call a fly with no wings? A walk (Natalie)
  • When ordering at a Drive Thru and my kids are in the car, I always tell the person on the Squak Box “That order is ‘To Go’ !!” The kids laaaaaauuugh!! (Kevin – Kevin’s daughter Kourtney, “The kids do NOT laaaaaauuugh!!)
  • What did Noah say to his sons when they were fishing off the ark? Take it easy boys… we only have two worms. (Jack)
  • What do you call a monkey in a minefield? A babooooom! (Joshua)

A recent article published by Focus on the Family talked about the significance of fathers in the lives of their children. Here are some highlights:

  • Dads love “dangerously” – they play rough and take risks more. It helps children handle adversity in life and promotes positive problem solving skills.
  • Dads tend to stress rules and justice. It helps develop sense of right and wrong.
  • Dads who are nurturing produce children who are happier and contribute to the overall well-being of their children.

Dads, it never says we have to be perfect. There is only on perfect Father. He has commissioned us to love on our kids, wrestle with our kids, teach our kids right and wrong and protect our kids from harm. Dad Jokes are just part of what we’re made of!!

So if I can paraphrase 1 John 4:19, “We love [our children] because He first loved us.”

Be blessed and be a blessing!
