It’s Impact Week at Plymouth Church of Christ! For those unfamiliar, Impact Week is going from door to door in neighborhoods surrounding our building offering prayer and service work to our neighbors.
Impact Week reminds me of Jesus’ words in Luke 10:
“When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.” (10:5-6)
This Sunday (June 23), we are starting a sermon series on “Big Questions”. The first of the series is “Why Do I Exist?”
Impact week somewhat answers the “Why Do I Exist?” question. We are to be people of peace! There are too many in the world that are discouraged already. They are beaten down by broken promises of a relationship gone bad. Bruised by the rejection of other voices of our past coming back to haunt us yet once again.
So, CHURCH, WE ARE TO BE PEOPLE OF PEACE! That is why we are here! What does that look like in your world? Maybe it’s a kind word to a co-workier having a difficult day. Maybe it’s putting away your own project so you can spend time with family. Maybe it’s reaching out to your neighbors just to say “Hello!” so they feel welcomed in the neighborhood. Because, as Jesus says, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
And as always, especially in sharing peace, be blessed and be a blessing!
