I’m at Elevate this week! Elevate is a camp for 7th-12th graders at Rochester University. This is the 28th year of Elevate – I was there for year one. And several, actually many, more since year one. Let’s be real . . . I’ve only missed like 2.
So to say “I’m the old guy!” is very accurate!
In my years, there have been many come and go. There are some who come just for the “fun of camp”. There are many cool things about camp especially Elevate.
There are also some who come because their church group came. This is also very cool because there is some familiarity with the crowd because of people you know.
Many come, though, because, I believe, Elevate provides an opportunity go reflect on your walk with God and be challenged to not settle where you are but continue to grow. The theme this year, Ethos, is especially true.
What I get especially charged with is seeing those young people who make that commitment for the first time. Already 3 this week.
So, I’m grateful for those who continue to come!! I’m thankful for those who attended in the past. I am appreciative for those who have carried the torch to keep my dream of having this camp alive: Shannon Williams, Ryan Koral, Justin Remsing, Steve Corp, Chris Shields, Dan Henagar and Cole McClure.
Who knows? I might be around for another 20 years. In the meantime, I’m gonna keep enjoying the blessings of this week and bask in the joy of the Lord!
Be blessed and be a blessing!
