Worth Celebrating

I’m always up for having fun and a good time! Especially when family is involved!!

This weekend, my family will travel to Kalamazoo for my niece’s wedding. Most everyone in my family will be there – sisters, nieces, nephew and my mom (who is the flower girl!!)

The thing is it’s not just getting together with my family that, for me, is energizing. It’s everything leading up to it.

This is how it works, especially around the holidays, and knowing we’ll be together. At least two weeks before the event, the phone calls (and now FaceTime) start. We’ll send texts with a countdown. We will spend almost an hour talking about what will happen when we get together. Then turn around within the next day or two and do the same thing all over again.

Disclaimer: I know not everyone has this type of relationship with their family. I don’t know what has lead up your situation. If it’s up to you, create a space of peace. I’m not saying my family has been perfect. We have had our share of conflict, hurt and pain. We have learned to deal with the problem at the time and move on.

So, most of the children and grandchildren of Bob and Patsy will meet up in Kalamazoo and celebrate Adrienne and Dale. We’ll laugh together, share the same stories our kids have heard all of theirs and create some new memories and new stories to share the next time we get together.

“You shall rejoice in all the good that the Lord your God has given to you and to your house . . .” (Deuteronomy 26:11)

Be blessed and be a blessing!
