Sufficient Grace

I’m writing today! Not from my usual comfy office space, but from a Panera. The reason is our family is down a car after an accident yesterday with a daughter’s car. She came out without a scratch or bruise, but was pretty shaken by the whole incident. I coached her through the insurance process. But, I had to take her to her class today and am enjoying the ambiance of a different locale.

It got me thinking – an accident is just that. An accident. In most cases, it was a poor decision by one party and a car (or more than one) is wrecked. There are not too many stories unless you hear about it on the news about someone intentionally causing a crash. Is the accident inconvenient? Yes! Is is a hassle to deal with insurance, police, towing, etc.? Most definitely, especially if you’re at fault! But it is an accident.

How many times do we get upset over an inconvenience? How about when we make a poor decision that affects others? It’s certainly not as bad as we typically make it out to be.

The apostle Paul had an issue, not an accident. He called it his thorn in the flesh. There has been many debate about what exactly that was, but that’s another topic for another day. Paul says that he asked God to take it away three times (2 Corinthians 12:8) And God says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (12:9) Paul would continue to say that in his weakness he is more in tune with God.

So the next time your inconvenienced? Or you make a poor decision and have to figure out the next thing? Just know that God’s promise of His grace in all circumstances and take heart because it’s grace that takes care of all our concern.

Be blessed and be a blessing!
