It’s been an interesting past four weeks with the “Stay Home! Stay Safe!” literally nationally. Things that I would be watching like sport events are not happening as present. I’m spending more time at home because my ministry and counseling has become more “technical” with phone calls, texts, emails, Zoom contacts . . . well, you get the point.
So here we are! Here we all are! “Stuck” at home! After the tech winds down, here is what we’ve been able to do at our house:
- Family dinner – it’s always been a huge part of our family. It just seems like it’s a bit more special these days.
- Piano time – a few months ago, I bought a piano for my office to get back to learning to play again. We also have a piano at home that I will play also.
- Paint – not your Bob Ross type of painting – although as we have been painting, we’ll put a “happy tree” before we paint the whole wall. 4 rooms and a hallway done – one more hallway to go.
- Walks – we’ve been able to take walks. We talk while we walk. We look around and wave at our neighbors (distantly).
Hopefully you have had some time to really slow life down. Today, I heard a youth pastor friend really bring an idea home, at least to me. He compared this time in our history to Noah. Even brought up the fact that Noah, his family and animals were on the ark for a whole year. (Genesis 6-8) Noah and his family had to live a different life before, during and after the flood.
So what have you been able to do? Maybe this has been a chance to slow down for you. To live life differently even at home. Think about how you have been “blessed” in this time of “stuck-ness”. Let me know what you’ve done living differently.
And even as you are having to stay home . . . be blessed and be a blessing!
