Our social distancing has led us to FaceTime, Zoom, and Google Meet. Churches are “live-streaming” services with a skeletal crew, practicing social distancing of course, or pre-producing worship services, like the church I work with. To get a speak to a doctor, nurse, or your mental health professional, you speak over a video conference.
All well and good. But I heard, even this morning, one of the reporters on my morning news talk about how much he misses seeing everyone’s faces – not just over a screen.
States are now lifting limits on social, personal contact. People are getting out more. So, let me offer this as a reminder of who we are to be. Again this is probably nothing you have not heard before, just maybe a different way to see it.
Be patient. Be kind. Be one who does not envy. Be someone who does not boast and is not proud. Don’t dishonor others. Do not act self-seeking manner. Do not easily angered and keep no record of wrongs. Do not delight in evil but rejoice with the truth. Be the protector. Always trust. Always hope. Always persevere. Never ever let your love fail. (Calkin paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
So as you venture out more and more, be mindful of loving others as Jesus loves us. Love those faces!!
Be blessed and be a blessing!
