Correction: Just a quick note of correction based on last week’s post. Elevate / Summer Jam has been a camp at Rochester University since 1992 which would make 2021 year 30. Last year’s COVID pandemic took one year away from that so 2021 was year 29 and 2022 will be year 30 of Elevate.
On Tuesday of this last week, I took a group of our teens to Cedar Point Amusement Park. I have loved going to Cedar Point over the years. I have loved coasters. The taller, the twistier, the faster . . . I was all in. Until this year . . . after two big (and might I add my favorite) coasters at the park. I was DONE!! D to the O to the N to the E – DONE!!
So since I had a lot of time to think about my life choices and rollercoasters, I remembered this song by 4Him https://youtu.be/fKEvMelWusc:
This roller coaster ride of life
Lifts you up and lets you down
This roller coaster ride of life
Spins you round and round and round
Heaven knows wherever you go
I will be right by your side
On this roller coaster
Roller coaster ride of life
Roller coaster ride of life
Some of have been living a life that feels that rollercoaster ride. We live through the highs and lows and spins us round and round and round. And even when we feel like we’re off the ride, our body and mind are still trying to adjust.
As the song continues, we get assurances:
So, when I hear you calling
‘Cause you have hit your all time low
I will hold you to my side
And I won’t let you go
And when it seems you’re falling
‘Cause life has got you on a roll
I will take the wheel and hit the brakes
We’ll take it slow
And as you go through highs and lows
And all that’s in between
The Lord alone is in control
Of this big scream machine
Some are able to ride the ride of life without issue. Much like I was able to ride coasters when I was younger and not be bothered, even running around to catch the next ride after just finishing the last ride. Others not so much. They struggle with the ups and downs, twists and turns life throws at them. They don’t handle it well! Those twists and turns, ups and downs, literally take their breath away and they feel they have no where to turn.
We must remember that there are those who help manage the tracks of the coaster that help when there is a problem. We must also remember that on this rollercoaster of life, there are those along the tracks that help when we have a problem. And God is there because he is the creator of this “big scream machine” called life.
Be blessed on your rollercoaster of life!! Be a blessing to others along for the ride as well!!
