Another year has come and gone. Each day presenting itself with ups and downs. Each week, we faced challenges both good and bad. Each month moved along sometimes slower and sometimes faster that we had hoped.
Now we face 2022! At the Plymouth Church of Christ, we started back in a study of Philippians on Sunday mornings. Probably one of my favorite verses is in Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV),
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
2021 is gone! So let’s kind of forget about it. Let’s look ahead to what 2022 can bring us. I don’t mean resolutions that for some of us, have already been forgotten.
What do you see that is going to be good in 2022? Not from a resolution perspective, but what goals have I set for this year?
Here are a couple of mine:
- Read a book a month – not a lofty goal, but from one who does not read a lot, I think this is doable. Probably will start with ones that are on my desk that have yet to be finished.
- Reading through the Bible (second time through) – this time I’m going through chronologically. So far, Genesis 1-11, then a jump to Job.
- Diet – a recent diabetic diagnosis and history of another health concern has heightened my awareness of how I should be eating. Maybe I’ll lose some weight along the way!
There! Goals are out there! Now it’s time to press onto the prizes that await!!
Be blessed in 2022 and be a blessing to others!
