Let’s Take a Look

It’s the end of the school year. Student and teachers work to get end of the year projects done. It also means testing and examinations ramp up. Most everyone is taking a test to see if what they have been taught is retained, and hopefully passed.

It’s one of the times during a year in which we may pause and evaluate. We take a look at how we are doing since the beginning of the new year. We look at what our summer looks like this year.

It’s also Memorial Weekend. It’s a weekend in which many will remember those who have bravely fought and died for our country to preserve our rights as citizens. To a certain extent, some of us will take the opportunity to remember those whom we loved that have passed on. We stop for a moment, maybe share a story or two and reflect.

Let’s take a look at some “stop and pause” questions:

  • Who has had the biggest influence over my life so far? What characteristics did that person have that continue to help shape who I am?
  • So far this year, I have been able to accomplish this goal . . .
  • So far this year, I have not accomplished this goal, but . . .
  • What grade would I give myself regarding my relationship with others? Regarding my relationship with God?

I think that is a good start! As you take the opportunity to reflect and remember, let me remind you that God continues to be faithful. I love the promise Jesus gave his apostles just before he ascended. In fact, in movie fashion, He is assuring them as He ascends and fades into the atmosphere, “I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20, The Message)

Be blessed!! Be a blessing to others!
