A friend shared a photo recently of the “The Eye of God”. The Eye of God is actually a Helix Nebula (you may have to Google that to get a good explanation). Photos of it have been taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and can be viewed on the internet. What I have read is that it is actually a cylinder – that the photos taken are looking at it from the vantage point of looking into a glass or something similar.
Like many, I love the stars and the sky at night. Some of my favorite times of praise have been when I have been to a summer camp where I have been away from the bright lights and I am able to see the stars in the sky.
Some of my friends have even been able to see the Aurora Borealis. That is something the Mrs. and I have been talking about for a while – just getting into the car and driving to the middle of nowhere just so we can witness the beauty of that phenomenon.
I am mindful of Psalm 19:1:
“The heavens are telling the glory of God; they are a marvelous display of his craftsmanship.” (The Living Bible)
Then, the Psalmist reminds us:
“When I look up into the night skies and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you have made — I cannot understand how you can bother with mere puny man, to pay any attention to him!” (Psalm 8:3-4, The Living Bible)
Knowing God is watching over us, to guide us, to protect us and to dwell in us, can give us a great assurance as the stars are in the heavens. So, take a moment sometime soon and get away from the bright city lights. Stare up at the stars and rest in the blessings of God’s watchful eye.
Be blessed in your stargazing! Be a blessing to others along the way!
