I’m on vacation this week. We have traveled to northern Michigan. We take in the sights and sounds of the beauty of nature. More specifically, we frequent the bodies of water known as Lake Michigan and Lake Superior.
There is a specific reason whey we come to these places. It’s for the rocks. My wife has become a rock collector of sorts. The state rock of Michigan is the Petosky stone. The love for rock collecting started about 6 years ago when we went away for an anniversary trip up north. Neither of us had been up to the northern part of the state in a while.
On that particular trip, I did not have anything planned – just drive, sight see along the way and enjoy the state. She began to search on her phone, places to visit. We found a natural spring flowing out of a pipe called Old Faceful. Next to this was a beach on Lake Michigan – she had found a Petosky stone here (not common by the way). The love of rock hunting and collecting was born.
For me, these trips are about being with her, or in this case, with family and enjoy being out and about. I walk along the beaches looking for rocks too. I listen at the waves. I see families together.
Most days though, we wait, if we can, for the sunsets. That’s what I have come to love. There are so many colors to show off and God certainly does display both grace and majesty in the sunsets.
Where do find God at work in nature? What connects you to God in creation? I always seem to find a peace at sunsets. I always get the feels of God saying, “It’s time to go rest. Be at peace while you sleep.”
Be blessed! Be a blessing to others along the way!
