It’s Been . . .

“. . . one week since you looked at me!” Now I got you singing the song!

Really, it’s been a busy couple of weeks! The crazy thing is in all of the possible chaos that happens, I still am able to find some calm. Between counseling sessions, ministry activities, family things, a couple of funeral services (one I officiated), and as I type, finishing the blessing for a quinceanẽra, it really has been a extremely busy couple of weeks.

Then, as my custom when I get to the office, I check email, peruse Facebook and check out ESPN. As I reflect on my past couple of weeks, I see this post from my friend Ben. Ben is a minister down in Louisiana. His posts are typically not long, but pack a powerful word of reminding wisdom.

Here is his post from October 20, 2023:

The bad news: “In this world you will have trouble.”

The encouragement: “Take heart.”

The good news: “I have overcome the world.”

The result: “in me you may have peace.”

Jesus is aware of the difficulties we go through and cares about what happens to us. He offers us a peace that sustains and strengthens us. May such peace fill our hearts.

In the middle of our chaos, what a great reminder of Jesus’ presence in our lives. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve sat with people struggling to find a place in this world, someone diagnosed with cancer, sat with families mourning over a wife and mother or a family mourning over a brother. There have been times of celebration and worship such as the Harvest Celebration at the Plymouth church and times with family.

Maybe you need that reminder as well today! Thanks Ben!

Be blessed! Be a blessing to others!
