Let’s assume that you know someone whom you can call and they will offer guidance and wisdom. I work at a counseling center as a part-time therapist. I have about 10-15 clients that I see. There are several people that work there that are what I consider “in the know” people.
One of those people is Sharon. Sharon is a therapist on staff, but she is also the contact if you have questions about our online client system. She keeps up with the latest changes. She adds those changes to our user manual, which she also wrote. If you need her, as I did recently, she will take a few minutes out of her schedule to call and make sure you have what you need.
There is also Karen. Karen’s official title is Clinical Supervisor. She is responsible for the therapeutic side of what we are doing. She meets with staff on a regular basis to keep documentation up to date for insurance purposes. She monitors the number of clients you can have so that you don’t have to feel overloaded. In addition, she has her own base of clients she counsels daily.
In the days of Jesus, for the Jews, there were the rabbis. These were the teachers in the synagogues. They would advise the Jews on the teachings of God as it relates to their daily lives. As Jesus’ followers kept up with him, they began to call him, “Rabbi”. To which Jesus would respond with a pearl of teaching. Sometimes they would understand and other times, continual teaching had to be done.
In today’s day, many Christian followers turned to their pastors or church leaders for this type of wisdom and teaching. They consider these men and women as those in the know. They seek them out often asking about direction and guidance from the word of God as to how it applies in a given situation. While the Bible may not be specific to their question, a pearl of teaching principle may be appropriate.
I encourage you, if you have someone that you consider “in the know”, to reach out in some way to offer a form of gratitude for their accessibility and wisdom as they walk this path of life with you. I often think about the idea that today is the first time you are living it. There are challenges and celebrations that come with each day. Do you not feel blessed to know there is someone you can reach out to and they will offer a bit of God’s wisdom in facing today. Pray prayers of thanksgiving for these men and women “in the know”.
Be blessed today! Be a blessing to others along the way! After all, you might be someone else’s “in the know” person!
