“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.” (Psalm 19:1-2, NIV)
The following is an actual conversation that took place between my wife and I last week. (Me) “Hey! I’m done with counseling. I’m leaving soon!” (Her) “Great! How would you like to go looking for the northern lights!” (M) “Sure!” (H) “So, when you get home, you’ll need to eat quickly so we can get to the spot where we can meet one of the administrators of the Facebook group!” And off we went!
This week, many went looking at the skies in the evening for the supermoon. As a bonus, there was a partial lunar eclipse. It was also a harvest moon.
Often when we travel up north, we have to be on the shore so that we can watch the sunset! It is always so breathtaking to see the colors that are on display.
I will start singing in these moments with the skies. Never out loud! I feel I especially connect to the God of creation in these moments. And I sing . . .
This is my Father’s world,
And to my list’ning ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world:
Oh, let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
I hope you find moments like this to sing! To share in joy of nature and basked in the glory of God’s creation!
And be blessed in your singing! Be a blessing to others as they sing with the skies as well!
