You Say

I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up

Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low
Remind me once again just who I am because I need to know
Ooh-oh

You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And you say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don’t belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe (I)
Oh, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe

I’m not sure where along his young life he came to believe that he is not good enough. He is not enough. But he sat across from me sharing that he struggles with being comfortable with himself. His struggles go much deeper than he has initially let on.

But he connects to music. Specifically, he said he connects to this song by Lauren Daigle. He continued to say it’s the voices. The different voices that he has heard are strong. They are not voices that are real. Just messages that he has heard or felt for a while now.

Now he sits in a room with a therapist trying to understand his place and who he is. So we’ll camp here for a session or two. Helping him find out who he is. Helping him be comfortable with who he is. Helping him listen to the voice of his creator! Because he has faith in God, he desires to connect with God in the process.

Maybe this is you. Maybe you need a bit of a reminder. How does this sound?

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit them together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! It is amazing to think about. Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it.” (Psalm 139:13-14, The Living Bible)

God says you are loved. God says you are strong when you feel weak. God says we are His and He made you!!

So feel blessed! Be a blessing to others!
