Thankful for God!

As we continue our journey of thanksgiving, this week we turn our focus from what God has done to who God is. Our gratitude deepens when we remember His character—His mercy, compassion, faithfulness, and steadfast love.

Isaiah reminds us that “the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion” (Isaiah 30:18). God’s very nature is goodness and mercy. Peter writes that He has called us to know Him and to walk in His righteousness (2 Peter 1:3–4).

The psalmists echo these truths again and again:
“Because Your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will glorify You” (Psalm 63:3).
“How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” (Psalm 139:17–18).
“They speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty—and I will meditate on Your wonderful works” (Psalm 145:5).

When we give thanks for who God is, our worship moves beyond gratitude for blessings and rests in the beauty of His being. His character does not change, even when our circumstances do. He is worthy of praise—always.

Prayer:
Lord, You are gracious and full of compassion,
faithful in all You do and rich in love.
Your thoughts toward us are precious and beyond number.
Thank You for revealing Yourself through Your Word and Your works.
Teach us to rest in who You are—our gracious Father, our Redeemer, and our constant hope.
May our hearts overflow with praise for Your unchanging goodness.
Amen.
