Rooted in Faith: From Passover to Easter

Rooted. It’s the 2026 theme our church leadership adopted. Throughout the year, we interject thoughts and ideas related to this topic to encourage our church family of a faith that is grounded in God. As we reflect on this time of year in which our Jewish friends celebrate Passover and my Christian friends celebrate Easter. So here is my input to the conversation looking at Passover and Easter.

Roots hold us steady, nourish life, and keep us anchored when storms come. Faith works the same way. This season invites us to see the deep connection between Passover and Easter—two sacred moments that remind us what it means to be rooted in God’s faithfulness.

Passover: Remembering Deliverance

In Exodus 12, God delivered His people from slavery in Egypt. Through the blood of the lamb, they were spared and set free.

Passover became a lasting reminder that God is a Deliverer. It rooted His people in the truth that they belonged to Him and that their future was held by His faithfulness. Faith grows stronger when we remember what God has already done.

Easter: Celebrating New Life

Easter is the fulfillment of that story.

Jesus, the Lamb of God, gave His life to bring a greater deliverance—not just from slavery in Egypt, but from sin, death, and separation from God. And through His resurrection, Easter reminds us that God doesn’t only rescue us from what binds us—He also raises us into new life.

Passover says: You are set free.
Easter says: You are made alive.

Rooted in Hope

To be rooted in faith is to trust that God is still faithful, even when life feels uncertain.

Passover reminds us to remember.
Easter invites us to rise.

Together, they tell us that our lives are anchored in a God who delivers, restores, and brings resurrection where we thought the story was over. So in this season, stay rooted. The same God who led His people out of Egypt is the same God who rolled away the stone.

And that means hope is still alive.

Be blessed with hope!! Be a blessing offering hope!!
