I’m a part of several minister groups on social media. One minister this week posed an interesting question. The scenario was he was in between teachings and had a “free Sunday” asking for some guidance. An offer to inquire with Chat GPT was introduced. I don’t know if there was any follow up.
It got me inquiring in my own mind, especially as I sit at a computer trying to create something for this week. It’s almost as if my mind has gone blank. On the one hand, often we find our minds racing. Too easily distracted by due dates, other tasks to perform and maybe feeling we don’t have the energy.
On the other hand, I could keep this short and leave a blank page . . . . and be silent. It reminds me of the story one of my minister buddies was sharing a series on spiritual disciplines and that particular week was on the topic of silence. So his presentation was all on powerpoint and he did not say a word for 20 minutes of teaching.
So how about a mix of the two options. Not much to say, at least for today, for when we feel that we have nothing to give:
- Be still – we often find ourselves being pulled in different directions. Create a time and space in each day to be still and listen.
- Sense it – as you are still, pay attention to what is around you. Use your senses to connect yourself to your surroundings
- Read It – Find Bible readings that connect you to God. Or maybe just open your Bible and read. There probably is a reason why you were taken to that page – what is God telling me?
So, there you go! Short and simple! To be honest, today was one of those days that I really did feel like I had nothing to share. And in this case, I took some help from AI to just start my thoughts.
Be blessed when you’ve got nothing! Be a blessing to others even in those moments!
