Summer is a season when gardens grow, crops mature, and trees bear fruit. Yet every gardener knows there is a period of waiting between planting and harvest. Seeds hidden beneath the soil give little evidence of what is happening below the surface. Growth is taking place, but it cannot yet be seen. Faith often works the same way.
Psalm 84:11-12 reminds us:
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in You.”
Those words are easy to embrace when life is going well. It is much harder when prayers seem unanswered, when plans change unexpectedly, or when we find ourselves waiting for clarity, healing, provision, or direction.
At times we may wonder if God has forgotten us or if He is withholding something we desperately need. Yet Scripture repeatedly reminds us that God’s goodness is not measured by how quickly He answers our requests. His goodness is revealed in His faithful presence, wise timing, and perfect understanding of what we need most.
From a human perspective, waiting can be emotionally difficult. Uncertainty often fuels anxiety. We want answers, solutions, and visible progress. But faith invites us to trust that God is working even when we cannot see the results.
Just as a seed develops beneath the soil long before it breaks through the surface, God is often at work in ways hidden from our view. He may be shaping our character, preparing opportunities, deepening our dependence on Him, or arranging circumstances according to His purposes. Trust does not mean pretending that waiting is easy. It means choosing to believe that God’s heart is good even when His plans remain unseen.
As we move through this summer season, perhaps God is inviting us to trust Him with something we cannot yet understand. A prayer not yet answered. A burden not yet lifted. A door not yet opened.
The blessing of faith is not found in having all the answers. It is found in knowing the One who holds the future. The God who is our Sun and Shield is still at work. And in His perfect time, what is now hidden may one day reveal the goodness He was cultivating all along.
“Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in You.” (Psalm 84:12)
Be blessed!! Be a blessing!!
